Health Insurance in Washington, MO

Choosing a health plan means weighing premiums, deductibles, networks and prescription coverage, usually on a deadline. Whether you're self-employed, between jobs, retiring early or a small employer, Nothum Insurance helps you compare health insurance options and understand exactly what you're buying.

There's no cost to work with us. Agent compensation is built into the plan's premium, so you pay the same price whether you enroll on your own or with our help.

Health Coverage We Can Help With

• Individual and family health plans, both ACA Marketplace and off-Marketplace
• Premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions: many households qualify for financial help on Marketplace plans based on income and household size
• Small business group health insurance for employers who want to offer benefits
• Dental and vision insurance
• Supplemental coverage such as hospital indemnity, accident and critical illness plans that pay cash benefits to help with high deductibles
• Turning 65? Ask us about Medicare

Understanding Your Health Plan

• Premium: what you pay each month to keep coverage
• Deductible: what you pay for covered services before the plan starts paying its share
• Copays and coinsurance: your share of costs after the deductible
• Out-of-pocket maximum: the most you'll pay for covered in-network care in a plan year
• Network: the doctors and hospitals the plan works with. We check that your doctors and nearby hospitals are in-network before you enroll

Marketplace plans are grouped into Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers. Bronze plans have lower premiums and higher out-of-pocket costs, while Gold and Platinum have higher premiums and lower costs when you get care. Silver plans are the only tier eligible for cost-sharing reductions.

When Can You Enroll?

• Open Enrollment happens each fall. Missouri residents use the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov, and we'll remind you before the deadline
• Special Enrollment Periods open after qualifying life events such as losing job-based coverage, getting married, having a baby or moving. You generally have 60 days from the event to enroll
• Group health plans for employers can usually start any month of the year

We help self-employed people, farmers, small business owners, early retirees not yet eligible for Medicare, people leaving an employer plan or COBRA, and families comparing a spouse's employer plan.
